AI SEO Services

When people ask Google's AI Mode, ChatGPT or Perplexity about your field, the answer names a few businesses and quotes a few pages. I work on making yours one of them: pages worth quoting, facts about you that match everywhere, crawlers you allow on purpose, and tracking that shows what AI actually says about you.

No one can guarantee an AI citation. I'll show you where you stand today and what will improve your odds.

Signs AI search is passing you by

  • ChatGPT recommends your competitors when someone asks for a business like yours.
  • Google's AI Overview answers your buyers' main question and quotes someone else's page.
  • AI tools describe your business with old prices, the wrong location or services you stopped offering.
  • You don't know which AI crawlers your site allows or blocks.
  • Your firewall or CDN blocks bots, and nobody has checked which ones.
  • Your pages rank, but they bury the answer under long introductions.
  • You've been offered "rank in ChatGPT in 30 days" packages and don't know what's real.

AI visibility is built on SEO you can trust

Google has said it plainly: AI Overviews and AI Mode use the same core ranking and quality systems as normal search, and a page must be indexed and eligible to show a snippet before it can appear. Google treats GEO (generative engine optimization) and AEO (answer engine optimization) as part of SEO, not a separate trade. ChatGPT search, Perplexity and the others also need to reach and trust your pages before they can quote them.

So I start with the basics: pages that are indexed, crawlable without JavaScript tricks, fast and clearly about one thing. If a site has weak normal search visibility, that gets fixed first, because no AI layer will make up for it. For a full check of the site, see the Semantic SEO Audit.

Pages written to be quoted

AI answers are built from passages, not whole pages. A passage gets used when it answers one question clearly, near its heading, with specific facts. I rework your key pages so each section:

  • Opens with a direct answer in its first sentence, then explains.

  • Names things exactly: the product, the place, the price range, the standard, the person.

  • Uses facts a reader can check, such as "climate-controlled units kept between 59 and 77°F", not "top-quality storage".

  • Adds something only you can say: your process, your numbers, your photos, your experience.

That last point matters most. Google's guide says original, first-hand content is what wins, and that summaries of what already exists don't. The method behind this comes from Semantic SEO: a topical map that shows which questions your site should answer, and in what order.

The same facts about you, everywhere

AI tools describe your business by joining what they find about it across the web. When your website says one thing, your Google Business Profile another and an old directory a third, the AI either hedges or picks the wrong one. I collect your core facts into one fact sheet: name, address, service area, founding year, services, prices or price ranges, licenses, owners and key people. Then I fix your own pages first, and list every outside profile that needs updating, in order of how much it is trusted.

An AI crawler policy you choose on purpose

Each AI company uses different crawlers for different jobs, so "block AI" or "allow AI" is too blunt. I check your robots.txt, your firewall and your CDN, then set rules that match what you want.

  • Googlebot

    What it does
Crawls for Google Search, including AI Overviews and AI Mode
    If you block it
You lose Google Search, not just the AI features
  • Google-Extended

    What it does
A control for AI training and grounding in some other Google systems
    If you block it
Google Search and its AI features are not affected
  • OAI-SearchBot

    What it does
    Finds pages for ChatGPT search
    If you block it
Your pages stop appearing in ChatGPT search answers
  • GPTBot

    What it does
Collects content that may train OpenAI's models
    If you block it
Your content is kept out of future training
  • ChatGPT-User

    What it does
Visits a page when a ChatGPT user asks it to
    If you block it
robots.txt may not apply, because a person started the visit

Perplexity, Anthropic and Microsoft run their own crawlers too, and Bing is checked as well. Firewalls often block these bots even when robots.txt allows them, so I test real access, not just the file.

Citation tracking you can trust

AI answers change from person to person and day to day, so one screenshot proves nothing. I track the same way every month:

  1. A fixed question panel. 30 to 50 questions taken from your customers' real words, sales calls and search data.
  2. The same test conditions each month, across Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini.
  3. Four outcomes per question: cited with a link, named without a link, a competitor named instead, or not present.
  4. Search Console first. Google counts AI Overview and AI Mode visits inside your normal Search performance data.
  5. AI referral traffic in GA4, from sources such as chatgpt.com and perplexity.ai, matched to leads and sales.

Third-party AI visibility tools are useful for sampling, but none of them can see inside Google's or OpenAI's systems. I treat their numbers as estimates.

What I won't do

  • Hide instructions for AI in white text, alt text or comments. It is manipulation, and it can get pages removed.
  • Mass-produce prompt pages, hundreds of thin pages written for every AI question. Google's spam policies call this scaled content abuse.
  • Fake mentions: paid Reddit posts, fake reviews or undisclosed promotion. Google says its spam systems are built to ignore this, and people notice.
  • Block every bot by default, or allow every bot without asking what you want.
  • Add FAQ markup to every page in the hope of an AI boost. There is no special AI schema.
  • Promise a citation. I can improve your odds and show you the results honestly. Nobody can guarantee what an AI says.

How it works, step by step

  1. Panel and baseline

    Week 1

I build the question panel with you and record what AI tools say today. You share Search Console, GA4 and access to your site.

  2. Access check

    Week 1

robots.txt, firewall, CDN, indexing and rendering checked, and the crawler policy agreed.

  3. Gap map

    Weeks 2 to 3

Each weak answer is traced to the sub-questions behind it and matched to a page, new or existing.

  4. Fixes

    Weeks 3 to 6

Passages rewritten, facts aligned, outside profiles corrected. You approve the facts before anything goes live.

  5. Re-test

    Monthly

The same panel runs again, so you see what moved and what still needs work.

Each industry has its own rules, and some can’t run ads. See the industries I work in.

Ways to work together

Option 1

AI visibility baseline

The question panel, a baseline across four AI tools, a crawler access check and a prioritized fix list.

Option 2

AI search optimization project

Everything in the baseline, plus the gap map, passage rewrites for your key pages, the crawler policy and the entity fact sheet. About six weeks.

Option 3

Monthly AI search support

Monthly re-tests, new passages as gaps appear, fact upkeep and a report read alongside your SEO and ads data.

Who this is for, and who it isn't

A good fit if you

  • already get some search traffic
  • sell something people research before buying
  • have real expertise or data to share
  • want honest measurement

Not a good fit if you

  • have a site Google hasn't indexed yet
  • want a guaranteed mention in ChatGPT
  • want hundreds of AI-written pages fast

AI search by industry

  • Law firms:

AI answers on legal topics are careful, so clear attorney credentials, jurisdiction and plain-language answers decide who gets quoted.

  • Movers and self storage:

AI tools pull prices, sizes and service areas, so those facts must match on your site and your Google Business Profile.

  • Jewelry stores:

product facts such as metal, stone and lab-grown or natural must be stated clearly and the same way everywhere.

  • CBD and kratom:

AI answers on these topics are cautious, so lab results, legal wording and claims that stay within the rules matter more than volume.

AI search questions

Is this the same as GEO, AEO or LLM SEO?

Yes, those are other names for the same work. I use "AI search optimization" because it describes the goal: being found and quoted in AI answers.

Are you an AI SEO agency?

I'm a consultant, not an agency. You work directly with the person doing the research, the rewrites and the tracking.

Can you get my business recommended in ChatGPT?

I can improve your odds, and show you each month whether it is happening. No one can guarantee what an AI tool says.

Do I need an llms.txt file?

Not for Google. Google says Search doesn't use it, and it neither helps nor harms. Some other tools may read it, so it's optional.

Does schema markup help with AI Overviews?

There is no special AI schema. Structured data still helps Google understand your pages and qualifies them for rich results, so it stays in place where it fits.

Should I block AI crawlers?

It's a business choice. Blocking OAI-SearchBot keeps you out of ChatGPT search. Blocking GPTBot only keeps your content out of model training. I explain the trade-offs and you decide.

Can I keep my pages out of AI Overviews?

Only with snippet controls such as nosnippet, which also limit how your page shows in normal results. For most businesses, that costs more than it saves.

How fast can a page appear in AI answers?

Tools that search the live web can quote a page within days of it being crawled. What a model "remembers" from training changes much more slowly.
